AgroSpray came to us with a need: to revolutionize their current hydrosensitive card scanner.
At that time, they had a scanner that was a plastic device (a box), where the hydrosensitive card was inserted on a guide, and a smartphone was placed on top of the box. Inside, the card was evenly lit with LEDs. The guide ensured the correct position and defined a constant distance between the lens and the card. Although effective, it was impractical in real-world use.
The first requirement was also the first challenge: eliminate all accessories. The goal was to scan the cards using only the phone, with no extra box or device. This meant losing all the benefits of the old setup: even lighting, constant distance, and perfectly perpendicular alignment between lens and card. It was a tough task with many trials, but we made it work!
Then, once the image was captured, it had to be processed to extract spray statistics and determine if recalibration was needed.
